Anyone who is of a similar age to me will have followed the rise and rise and then subsequent fall of Mike Tyson.

The heavyweight division has always been the main attraction in our sport, even more so when a youngster came along. Like Mike Tyson, who was something special, somebody who had an aura about him, an aura of invincibility and an element of menace that scared the life out of people!

Yesterday, after the traditions of present opening and the festive dinner had been dealt with, I sat in my favourite armchair and picked up a book that my wife had purchased as a present for me.

Entitle Mike Tyson ? Undisputed Truth, I was soon in another world as I read page after page of this almost 600 page extravaganza.

As minutes turned to hours I had trouble, much to family?s disgust, putting it down.

It was totally enthralling and opened my eyes to just what a troubled life the young Mike Tyson had and how his relationship with Cus Damato changed his outlook and perceptions on life.

It goes on to cover the sad death of his mentor, his demolition of Trevor Berbick, a fight that saw him become the youngest ever heavyweight champion of the world. It also touches on how he found it difficult to cope with money, how he had his mother exhumed and how so many of his friends, from his younger days, met their deaths.

Now I could go on and on, only I?ve yet to get any further into the book, that pleasure is for this afternoon, but I will say if you are in a book shop and you see a copy on the shelf, do yourself a huge favour buy it, just like me you?ll be totally transfixed by its contents!
