Last night, over in Dublin, Anthony Crolla featured on the under-card.

The Manchester lightweight was taking on the Hungarian Gyorgy Mizei Junior in a six round fight. It was a fight that Crolla was to win on points, taking the verdict 60-54 in a one sided affair.

However, that wasn?t the biggest news of the day as far as Crolla is concerned with it being confirmed that on 23rd January 2015, Crolla will be fighting Richar Abril, of Cuba, for the WBA world lightweight title.

The fight will take place on Crolla?s home turf at the Manchester Arena and gives the fighter who operates under the banner ? Anthony ?Million $? Crolla the chance to join the world?s elite.

Talking about this golden chance Crolla had this to say,

‘I am a Manchester lad so to be fighting in Manchester for a world title, I couldn’t ask for anything more. ?

‘The only way it could get better than that is to go out there and win it.’

Abril, as are most Cuban fighters, will be a tough proposition and his record currently stands at 19-4, but at 32 could age be catching up with him?
