Could 2017 be the year that Chris Eubank Jnr fulfils the huge potential he?s shown during his career and win a world title?

On February 4th Eubank will be taking on the Australian fighter, Renold Quinlan, for the IBO super-middleweight belt.

Although Eubank Jnr has opted to move up a weight division, it?s anticipated that he?ll have too much for Quinlan and will achieve his ambition of emulating his dad.

But, reflecting on 2016, many boxing fans are still a little puzzled as to why, when it looked as if a deal was going to be made, Gennady Golovkin ended up in the ring with Kell Brook when the nation expected it to be Eubank Jnr.

When it comes to explaining why the Golovkin fight never materialised, Eubank Jnr has a few words to say about the promoter, Eddie Hearn, with Eubank Jnr remarking to the media,

?Eddie saw an easy way out. He saw a way to make things easier for himself by giving the fight away to Kell.

?We in negotiations, we were negotiating everything for the fight and we were close to getting it completely done but we?re not rollovers, we?re not just going to accept everything you tell us. We?re not yes-men. We?re fighters and we?re gonna take what we deserve, whereas obviously Kell was like ?listen, yes? to everything that Eddie wanted.?

Naturally, we await a response from Eddie Hearn.

But could 2017 be the year that Eubank Jnr steps into the ring to take on Golovkin?

Eubank Jnr reckons it could be, further adding,

?That fight is still there to be made.

?It will still happen, and I believe it will happen in 2017.?

2017 could be a career defining year for Chris Eubank Jnr, are we about to see if the fighter is as really as good as his father says he is?
